A two-alarm house fire shut down a busy Cornelius intersection Wednesday morning, forcing drivers to avoid one of the main routes between Cornelius and western Hillsboro.
The fire broke out near Baseline Street and South 14th Avenue, with crews responding just before 8:15 a.m. Officials urged commuters to use alternate routes while firefighters worked at the scene.
No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials have not said when the roads will reopen.
