Hillsboro's free harvest festival returns to Orenco Station on Saturday, Sept. 19, with seven hours of live music, food trucks and a beer stein holding contest.

OrencoFest takes over Jerry Willey Plaza, 943 NE Orenco Station Loop, from noon to 7 p.m. The event, organized by Hillsboro Parks & Recreation, is free and open to all ages, according to the city's event page.

Live entertainment fills the stage all day. River Twain, a roots and soul group, opens at noon. Mojo Holler brings indie folk rock from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Dance Hall Days closes the evening from 5 to 7 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., Dance Your Boots Off leads a line dance demonstration and lesson open to the crowd.

Between sets, HART Theatre's young cast performs a sneak peek of Alice in Wonderland Jr. from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Harrison Butler of HART Theatre emcees the performance, which marks the second year the youth troupe has appeared at OrencoFest, according to a HART event listing. The full production opens Oct. 9 on the HART mainstage at 185 SE Washington St.

The Masskrugstemmen, a traditional beer stein holding contest, starts at 3:30 p.m. Entry costs $22 and can be purchased onsite only. No advance sales. Golden Valley Brewery & Restaurant serves as the festival's alcohol sponsor.

Kids get free face painting from Nicole's Face Painting and balloon twisting from Twist: Parties & Events all day. Artisan vendors and food trucks line the plaza, with vendors drawn from event partner Tuesday Night Market.

Hillsboro Parks & Recreation promoted the festival on Facebook, describing the event as a celebration of the harvest season. The Hillsboro School District also listed OrencoFest on calendars for Glencoe and Century high schools.
