Hillsboro's Shute Park Aquatic and Recreation Center reopened Monday, Sept. 14, after its annual maintenance closure.

Swimmers heading back will find new LED lights over the indoor pools in the natatorium, according to the city's announcement. Crews also replaced all bolts on the water slide and had it buffed and waxed. A new bulkhead was installed in the outdoor pool.

Behind the scenes, workers completed a structural inspection of the natatorium ceiling and repaired the air handling units that control the indoor pool climate. Backflow testing and caulk replacement around pool drains rounded out the mechanical work.

The lobby and hallway got new carpet. Staff spot-painted the main indoor pool and warm water pool areas, pressure-washed the building, and cleaned windows throughout.

SHARC is open at 953 SE Maple St. Residents can call 503-681-6127 for hours and program information.
