Sixteen beverage partners will pour wine, cider, craft beer and zero-proof tastings inside 17 downtown Hillsboro shops on Saturday, Nov. 7. Every ticket sold helps fund services for survivors of domestic violence.
The annual Sip & Shop returns to Historic Downtown Hillsboro from 3 to 7 p.m., according to the City of Hillsboro. Guests follow a passport map along Main Street and the blocks between 2nd and 4th Avenue, sampling drinks at participating businesses. Proceeds go to the Family Peace Center of Washington County, which supports people affected by domestic violence and related abuse.
Tickets cost $25 per person. Each one includes a tasting glass, a reusable shopping bag with merchant promotions and a passport. No retail purchase or tasting is required to earn a passport stamp. Guests who collect stamps at a minimum of seven shops can enter a raffle for themed gift baskets.
A wine concierge service will carry purchases to designated pickup spots so attendees can keep browsing hands-free.
"Downtown Hillsboro's Sip & Shop has become a signature event my guests look forward to every year," said Kevin Green, proprietor of La Randonnée Wines, a participating winery, in a statement on the city's website.
The event, organized by the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership, began in 2021 as a free event to encourage downtown shopping, the city said. It has since grown into a volunteer-led holiday tradition. Since 2024, Sip & Shop has contributed $3,000 to local initiatives, including $1,000 to the Hillsboro Historical Society and $1,500 toward the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership's downtown branding effort.
This year's sponsors include Heritage Bank, Le'Stuff Antique Mall, Résolu Cellars, Lithtex Printing Solutions and Pace Financial Advisors, among others.
Four "Soaking Stations" along the route will offer savory bites, with additional small bites at participating locations. Live music and performances by the Dickens Carolers round out the afternoon, according to the city. The Hillsboro Herald also previewed the event.
The event is 21-and-over. Check-in begins at 3 p.m., with final check-in at 6:15 p.m. Organizers encourage attendees to use transit or ridesharing afterward.
Tickets and the full list of participating shops and beverage partners are available at the Sip & Shop page on SeeMyLegacy.com.
