Six people were arrested on commercial sexual solicitation charges after an undercover sex trafficking operation led by the Washington County Sheriff's Office (WCSO), the agency announced in a press release published Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Investigators posted ads on known sex trafficking websites, according to the release. People who responded contacted undercover detectives to arrange payment for sexual acts. When they arrived to meet the detectives, they were arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail.
The six arrested range in age from 26 to 41 and include residents of Beaverton, Hillsboro and Portland.
The Hillsboro Police Department assisted in the operation, along with police departments in Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Sherwood, Tigard and Tualatin. The WCSO also acknowledged the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, a team of local law enforcement agencies and community partners focused on combating human trafficking in Washington County.
The Sheriff's Office said it regularly conducts undercover operations addressing sex trafficking, including full-scale stings and day-to-day online investigations.
