Hillsboro parents and community members have until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, to apply for open seats on the district's Community Curriculum Advisory Committee.

The CCAC advises the school board and superintendent on long-range curriculum development and instructional programs. Members serve two-year terms and cannot be current district employees.

The committee's baseline is 14 adult members and up to five students. Seven adults are continuing their terms this year. As of a Sept. 22 board packet, only three adults had applied for seven open positions. Eight students had applied for up to six student slots.

The district originally set a Sept. 11 deadline but extended it after spots went unfilled. The announcement was published in English and Spanish.

The school board will appoint remaining members at its Tuesday, Oct. 27, session. New appointees would join the committee's first meeting of the year on Monday, Nov. 2.

Applications are available on the district's get-involved page.
