The Washington County Chamber of Commerce says the Latino Community Festival draws nearly 10,000 people each year to Hillsboro Ballpark.

On Sunday, August 9, the free, all-ages event returns for its 20th year. The festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. at the ballpark, 4460 N.E. Century Blvd., the former home of the Hillsboro Hops.

The City of Hillsboro is hosting the event in partnership with the Chamber. Unitus Community Credit Union is the title sponsor, and Genentech is the presenting sponsor.

Supporting sponsors include the Portland Trail Blazers, Kaiser Permanente Northwest, Table Community Church, and Washington County government.

What to expect

The lineup includes live music, dance performances, a fashion show sponsored by Lucia Isabel Collection, food vendors, an art village, and booths from local businesses and community organizations. Youth and adult teams will compete in a futsal tournament throughout the day, with Hillsboro Futsal among the tournament sponsors.

The festival is billed as a celebration of Latino culture and community, and the 20th edition marks it as one of the longest-running cultural festivals in the Portland metro area, according to the Hillsboro News-Times.

Admission is free. Vendors interested in participating can contact Jessica Aimonetti, the festival's event coordinator at the Washington County Chamber, at [email protected] or 503-726-2151. Volunteers are also needed for setup and running cultural activities throughout the day.

The Hillsboro School District is promoting the festival to families through its district news page. Telemundo Portland and the Hillsboro News-Times are serving as media sponsors.
