Hillsboro neighbors will gather under the stars every Friday in August for free movies at four different city parks, with the film lineup chosen by residents themselves.
The city's "Pix in the Park" series, organized by Hillsboro Parks & Recreation, returns with screenings on four consecutive Friday nights beginning Friday, August 7, 2026, and running through Friday, August 28.
Residents voted on the city's Engage Hillsboro platform and the Spanish-language platform Conéctate Hillsboro to select the final lineup.
In 2024, the vote drew nearly 3,000 ballots across both platforms, according to the city's Engage Hillsboro page.
The lineup
- Friday, August 7 — Zootopia 2 (2025, rated PG) at Hillsboro Stadium, 4450 N.E. Century Blvd.
- Friday, August 14 — Inside Out 2 (2024) at Bagley Park, 201 N.E. Jackson St.
- Friday, August 21 — How to Train Your Dragon (2025) at Hidden Creek Park West, 225 N.E. 53rd Ave.
- Friday, August 28 — E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982, rated PG) at Central Park, 6200 N.E. Brighton Drive
What to know before you go
Activities start at 7:30 p.m. each Friday. Movies begin at dusk, between 8:15 and 8:45 p.m. All films are closed captioned in English.
A rotating lineup of food trucks will be on site, but attendees are welcome to bring their own food and nonalcoholic drinks, the Hillsboro News Times reported Saturday, July 25. The city recommends bringing a blanket or low-back chair.
Admission is free. No registration is required.
Kerstin Motsch-Reiter, the city's special events supervisor, oversees the series. Questions can be directed to [email protected].
The bilingual voting model ensures Spanish-speaking households have equal say in the film selection, with ballots available in both English and Spanish through Conéctate Hillsboro.
