Stephanie Lopez is using a walker and a wheelchair after a driver struck her on NW 185th Avenue and fled. More than a week after the July 13 crash near McDonald's, the Hillsboro woman says her recovery will take months.

Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies are still searching for the driver, who was captured on nearby surveillance video, KXL reporter Noah Friedman reported July 20. No arrest has been made.

Lopez was crossing NW 185th when she was hit. The driver did not stop. The crash left her with major injuries that now require mobility aids for daily movement.

Investigation status

The Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation but has not released a description of the suspect vehicle or the driver.

No formal press release about the case appeared on the agency's FlashAlert feed as of July 21.

The existence of surveillance video showing the driver is the most significant investigative detail made public so far. Deputies have not said whether they have identified the vehicle's make, model, or plate number from the footage.
