Yorec Gant will lead Hillsboro High School's Student Government Association as president for the 2026-27 school year, with Lucy Clay serving as vice president.

Students at Hilhi voted Aug. 21 to choose their SGA officers, according to the Hillsboro Globe, the school's student newspaper. Results were announced Aug. 24. Michiah Neal won the secretary seat and Eric Thompson won treasurer. The SGA plans school events including pep rallies, homecoming, coming-home and prom.

Candidates applied between Aug. 12 and Aug. 17, then campaigned with posters and social media posts through the week before the vote. Voting ran from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 21.

Each grade level also elected its own representatives:

  • 9th grade: Purpose Mitchell, president; Carter Taylor, vice president
  • 10th grade: Jaide Davis, president; Amelia Guzman, vice president
  • 11th grade: Hadiel Ibrahim, president; Jasiah Gardner, vice president
  • 12th grade: Demarreo Foxx, president; Lilly Fowler, vice president; Ryan Thomas, secretary; Leah Rodgers, treasurer

Hilhi, the district's oldest high school, enrolled about 1,343 students in 2023-24, according to federal enrollment data. A current enrollment figure was not available.

A member-at-large position on the SGA remains open and does not require an election, the Globe reported. Students interested in the role can contact advisors Ms. Brooks or Ms. Guice through the school.

The school's Back to School Night is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11.
