The Fourth of July is over, but Hillsboro's summer programming keeps rolling. Three free outdoor concerts, a closing art exhibit, a line dance night, and four weekly farmers' markets give residents plenty of reasons to get outside through the end of July.
Showtime Concert Series at Shute Park
Hillsboro Parks & Recreation's free Thursday-evening concert series has three dates left at Shute Park, 750 SE 8th Ave.:
- Thursday, July 9 — Jennifer Batten & Full Steam, 6:30–8:30 p.m.
- Thursday, July 16 — Taken By the Sky (Fleetwood Mac tribute), 6:30–8:30 p.m.
- Friday, July 24 — Cruzar la Cara de la Luna (a mariachi opera), 6:30–8:30 p.m. This is the season finale, moved to a Friday.
All shows are free and alcohol-free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Food trucks rotate weekly, according to the city's special event permit records.
'Time & Place' closes Thursday, July 17
The "Time & Place" exhibit at the Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 E Main St., ends Thursday, July 17. Three Oregon artists are featured: Jeff Jurrens, Clement Lee, and Christopher B. Mooney. The Hillsboro News-Times reported the show explores urban infrastructure, labor, and landscape.
Gallery admission is free. Hours: Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.
Line Dance Night, Friday, July 10
Also at Walters: Line Dance Night, Friday, July 10, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Instructor Shirley Rossetti of Dance Your Boots Off leads a beginner lesson at 7 p.m., with open dancing at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14 in advance, $16 at the door. The Arts for All program offers $5 tickets for Oregon Trail Card holders, SNAP recipients, students, and assisted living residents.
Farmers' markets on regular schedule
The Downtown Hillsboro Saturday Market, closed July 4 for the parade, resumes Saturday, July 12, at 150 E Main St., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the Hillsboro Farmers' Markets organization's social media.
Other locations running weekly:
- Orenco Station — Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 6125 NE Cornell Rd.
- Reed's Crossing at Tamarack Park — Wednesdays, 4:30 to 8 p.m., 7250 SE Tamarack St., South Hillsboro.
- The Streets at Tanasbourne — 2nd and 4th Thursdays, 4 to 8 p.m.
July produce at area markets includes marionberries, blueberries, peaches, cherries, and the last strawberries of the season. Markets also feature live music through the "Music at the Markets" program.
