A 27-year-old driver slammed his vehicle into a Hillsboro home near Southeast Brookwood Avenue and Southeast Oakhurst Street late on Tuesday, July 28, and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after blowing a 0.21% blood alcohol content.
That's more than twice Oregon's legal limit.
Hillsboro Police Department officers responded around 11 p.m. to reports of a car striking the house, the department said in a post on its verified Instagram account on Tuesday, Aug. 4. With assistance from Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, officers confirmed no one inside the home was injured.
Police said the driver, 27, provided a breath sample showing the 0.21% BAC. Officers arrested him on suspicion of DUII at the scene.
As of Tuesday, Aug. 4, charges had not been filed in Washington County Circuit Court, according to the Hillsboro News Times.
The crash marks the third time a vehicle has struck a home in Washington County this year, according to the Hillsboro News Times. In March, a vehicle crashed into a Hillsboro home near East Main Street and Northeast 32nd Avenue, rupturing a natural gas line and forcing an hours-long street closure. No one was injured in that incident either.
HPD announced a separate multi-agency traffic enforcement mission in Hillsboro's high-crash areas on Wednesday, Aug. 5, targeting speed, distracted driving and traffic signal violations.
