A Beaverton man who broke into three unlocked homes on a single October night and climbed into bed with sleeping residents has been sentenced to a decade in state prison.

Washington County Circuit Judge Eric Butterfield sentenced Christopher Lloyd Rydman, 38, to 10 years behind bars on July 21, after Rydman pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, and private indecency.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Andrew Freeman prosecuted the case in Washington County Circuit Court in Hillsboro.

The charges stem from a spree that unfolded over roughly an hour on the night of Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, in a Beaverton neighborhood.

What happened

Around 10:45 p.m., Rydman entered an unlocked apartment where a single mother and her children lived, went into the bedroom, and got into bed with the woman as she slept, according to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.

When she woke, Rydman was lying beside her and touching her body, prosecutors said. The woman ran from the room, recorded Rydman on her cell phone as he left, and her son called 911.

About a half-mile away, Rydman approached a second home and lingered at the front door, triggering a security camera. The occupants called 911.

While officers were responding to those two calls, Rydman entered a third unlocked home and climbed into bed with a woman and her boyfriend, naked from the waist down. The couple woke up and the boyfriend physically forced Rydman out of the residence, the DA's office said.

Officers already patrolling the neighborhood spotted Rydman in the street and arrested him.

Criminal history and sentence

Court records show Rydman has an extensive criminal history with more than two dozen sets of charges dating to 2006, including theft, criminal mischief, and possession of controlled substances.

Following sentencing, Rydman was transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections to begin serving his 10-year term.

The DA's office thanked the victims for their cooperation and commended the Beaverton Police Department for its work on the case.
