Democratic Rep. Andrea Salinas won reelection to Oregon's 6th Congressional District, the Associated Press reported, defeating Republican challenger David Russ. The seat covers parts of Washington County and much of the surrounding area.

The AP called the race just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, KOIN reported. KOIN reported that Salinas had collected 58% of more than 150,000 votes counted at that point, with Russ at 42%, according to the Oregon Secretary of State's website. Those are unofficial results, and additional ballots remain to be counted.

Statewide, the Oregon Secretary of State's office reported 49.89% voter turnout with 1,550,987 ballots counted as of 7:45 a.m. on Nov. 4, according to results.oregonvotes.gov.

Voters could mail their ballots, postmarked by the 8 p.m. deadline, or drop them at any official ballot drop site in the state. Oregon officials had urged voters to use drop boxes rather than mail in the final days before the election, according to KGW.

What's at stake

The 6th District includes parts of Washington, Clackamas and Marion counties and all of Polk and Yamhill counties, according to the Oregon Capital Chronicle. Salinas was seeking a third term in Congress.

The Cook Political Report rates the district as "solid Democratic" in 2026, the Oregon Capital Chronicle reported in August. KGW's voter guide noted that Oregon's 4th, 5th and 6th districts are seen as more competitive than the state's other three, but polls had shown all six Oregon incumbents in the lead.

The candidates

Salinas is the Democratic incumbent and a former Oregon state representative. Russ, a former Dundee mayor and business owner, is the Republican challenger. He also ran in the 6th District in 2022 and 2024, the Statesman Journal reported.

A nonaffiliated candidate, Jason Faler, ended his campaign in August after falling short of the roughly 3,500 signatures needed to qualify for the ballot, the Oregon Capital Chronicle reported. Faler, a combat veteran and former healthcare executive based in Tigard, said his campaign collected just under 3,000 signatures. That left a two-candidate race.

Campaign fundraising

The most recent fundraising figures available in the public record date to the end of 2025. Salinas raised $193,000 in the fourth quarter of that year and had $506,000 remaining in her campaign fund, the Oregon Capital Chronicle reported in February. Russ reported no fundraising or expenses that quarter but had $7,000 in his campaign fund.

What's next

Unofficial results will continue to be updated at results.oregonvotes.gov. Final election results are scheduled to be certified Nov. 30, according to Multnomah County's election timeline.
