Hillsboro nonprofits can apply for up to $20,000 apiece from the city's 2026-27 Community Services Grant program, with applications due Tuesday, Sept. 15, as first reported by Patch.

The City of Hillsboro budgeted $200,000 for the grant cycle, administered through the City Manager's Office, according to the program's listing on FundsforNGOs, which links to the city's official grant page. Three focus areas will receive priority funding: mental and behavioral health, housing access and stability, and early childhood education or childcare.

The program is open to any 501(c)(3) organization that serves Hillsboro residents. Eligible social services include programs addressing aging, drug and alcohol recovery, family support, housing, mental and physical health, public safety and vocational rehabilitation.

Organizations that previously received city grants must have filed all required progress reports to be considered. Groups awarded less than $3,000 are exempt from the six-month reporting requirement.

The deadline falls 12 days from Thursday, Sept. 3. Full application details are available on the city's grant page.

The city's priority areas align with needs the Hillsboro Community Foundation identified in December 2025, when it reactivated its Community Emergency Relief Initiative after the city declared community needs in housing stability, food access, healthcare and mental health. In February, the foundation awarded $22,150 to Raíces de Bienestar to expand culturally responsive mental health services in Hillsboro.

Cristina Bowerman, executive director of the Hillsboro Community Foundation, said Feb. 17 when the foundation announced that award that "timely access to therapy and coordinated care can make the difference between crisis and stability."

No announcement date for grant awards has been published.
