Democratic Rep. Andrea Salinas has won reelection to represent Oregon’s 6th Congressional District, defeating Republican challenger David Russ in a race that included Hillsboro and much of the surrounding region.
Salinas received 113,919 votes, or 57.9%, compared with 82,550 votes, or 42%, for Russ, according to the latest published results. Salinas led by 31,369 votes. The results remain unofficial pending certification.
The Associated Press reported Salinas’ victory as part of a broader sweep by Democratic incumbents in Oregon’s Portland-area congressional districts. Democrats also won the other three Portland-area U.S. House races, according to Axios Portland.
A district spanning five counties
Oregon’s 6th Congressional District includes parts of Washington, Clackamas and Marion counties, as well as all of Polk and Yamhill counties. The district includes Hillsboro and other communities across the region.
Salinas, who first won the seat in 2022, will return to Congress for another two-year term. Russ, a businessman and former mayor of Dundee, was her Republican challenger.
Campaign focused on healthcare and the economy
During the campaign, Salinas highlighted healthcare and affordability as priorities. Her campaign pointed to her support for hospital and insurance price transparency, rural healthcare programs and efforts to lower prescription drug costs.
Russ challenged the incumbent as Republicans sought to make gains in Oregon’s congressional delegation. However, the race was widely rated as favorable to Salinas before Election Day. The Cook Political Report rated the district as solid Democratic, according to Ballotpedia’s 2026 election coverage.
Results remain unofficial
Although Salinas has been reported as the winner, Oregon’s election results are not final until certified. Counties may receive valid ballots postmarked by Election Day through Nov. 10, and the Secretary of State has scheduled statewide certification for Dec. 10.
